CGI Door Installation in Westgate: What to Know First
We install, replace, and service CGI doors throughout Westgate, and most jobs are completed in a single day once the door is on hand. Pricing runs honest and itemized – you’ll see the door cost, the labor, and any hardware line by line before we ever pick up a drill. No vague allowances, no “we’ll see when we open the wall” surprises.
This page is for Westgate homeowners who already own a CGI door – or are about to – and want an installer who actually knows the brand. Ed Winslow has been working with CGI products since the company started in 2011, and we’re the crew neighbors call when another contractor botched a CGI install or couldn’t source the right parts. Call (561) 468-6136 and a live person answers, day or night.
How CGI Products Fail - and How We Fix Them
- CGI Estate Collection entry doors: sagging hinges on heavy panels. The Estate line uses thick, laminated glass and reinforced frames that weigh significantly more than a standard entry door. We see Westgate homes where the original installer used standard-duty hinges instead of the heavy-gauge ones CGI specifies. The door starts dragging on the threshold within two or three years. Our fix: pull the door, inspect the jamb for stress cracks, install the correct hinge set, and re-hang with proper reveal clearances. In Westgate’s humidity, we also seal the hinge mortises to keep moisture out of the wood core.
- CGI Sentinel sliding glass doors: worn roller assemblies from coastal air. Westgate sits close enough to the coast that salt and fine sand work their way into roller tracks. The stock rollers CGI ships with the Sentinel line are decent, but they’re not sealed against abrasive grit. Homeowners notice the door gets harder to slide, then starts grinding. We replace the rollers with sealed-bearing aftermarket units that outlast the originals, and we re-align the track if the previous install left it slightly out of square.
- CGI French door sets: center seam weatherstripping failure. Double-door CGI units rely on a center astragal with interlocking weatherstripping. After a few wet seasons in Westgate, that strip compresses and the two panels no longer seat tightly against each other. You’ll feel a draft or see daylight at the center seam. The real cause is often that the doors were installed with a fraction too much clearance between the panels. We correct the geometry and install a fresh astragal with a stouter seal than the OEM part.
- CGI impact-rated front doors: deadbolt strike misalignment. Impact-rated doors flex less than conventional doors, which is the point, but if the jamb isn’t perfectly squared, the deadbolt hits the strike plate at an angle. Over time the bolt wears down or the strike screws loosen. We see this constantly on Westgate homes where a handyman hung the door without a level. We re-hang and shim the frame, then set the strike so the bolt throws clean with one hand.
- CGI replacement door frames: bottom sweep rot at the sill. Westgate’s rainy season tests every door sill. The bottom sweep on CGI doors does its job, but if the door wasn’t sealed properly at the sill flashing, water wicks underneath and starts eating the frame from the bottom up. By the time a homeowner sees the telltale dark stain, rot has already set in. We cut out the compromised section or replace the full frame, flash the sill correctly, and set the new sweep with a downward pitch so water runs off instead of in.
Our CGI Door Installation Process
- 1
The call. A live person answers. We ask about the door line, the symptom, and whether you have the original paperwork. If you’re not sure which CGI model you own, our tech will identify it on site.
- 2
The diagnostic visit. We measure, inspect the jamb and sill, check for water intrusion, and give you a written line-item quote. No charge for the trip inside our home county. Seniors and veterans get 10% off, every time.
- 3
The parts decision. We show you the OEM option and any aftermarket alternative, with real numbers. If OEM is warranty-critical, we say so. If an aftermarket part outperforms stock in Westgate’s climate, we tell you that too.
- 4
The install. Our background-checked, uniformed technicians handle everything: frame prep, flashing, hanging, alignment, and hardware. We don’t subcontract. Ed’s crew does the work.
- 5
The test. We cycle the door, check the seals, verify the deadbolt throw, and run water on the sill. If anything’s off, we fix it before we leave.
- 6
The walkthrough and the guarantee. You see what we did, we leave the work area cleaner than we found it, and the Done Right Promise goes on the invoice. Ed’s name is on the truck. If it’s not right, he’ll make it right.

Why Westgate Homeowners Call Winslow Windows & Doors for CGI Work
We’re the local shop that’s been doing this across Westgate since 2011, and we’ve never hidden behind a call center or a ticket number. Ed Winslow grew up just off Hialeah Drive – Westgate is his backyard, not a territory we send a crew to. When you call, you get a live person. When our tech pulls up, you know exactly who’s at the door: uniformed, background-checked, and working for a company with a published address and license number.
We work on all eight brands we’re authorized to install – CGI, PGT, CWS, ES Windows, ECO Window Systems, Mr-Glass, Therma-Tru. So if your CGI door isn’t worth repairing, we won’t push you into a phonebook of options. We’ll show you what makes sense, from any of those lines, and back it with the same Done Right Promise. Upfront pricing. No surprises on the invoice. The one down the road.
FAQs
CGI’s warranty covers manufacturing defects, but installation errors are the homeowner’s responsibility, and an unqualified install can absolutely cause a denied claim. We see Westgate homes where a bad install led to frame rot or a misaligned door, and the homeowner gets caught between the manufacturer and the handyman. We install to CGI’s documented specs, and we flag anything the original install got wrong. Call (561) 468-6136 and we’ll tell you honestly whether the work on your door was done right.
Most door-only installations happen in one day once the door and hardware are on hand. If we’re replacing a frame or correcting water damage at the sill, allow a second day. We’ll give you a firm timeline on the estimate.
Both. We source genuine CGI parts when the job calls for them – especially anything tied to the impact rating or warranty. But there are spots where a quality aftermarket part does better in Westgate’s climate, like sealed-bearing rollers for sliding doors. We show you the option and the price difference before we order anything.
If the glass is intact, the frame is sound, and the hardware failure is isolated, repair usually wins. If the frame has rot, the panels are out of square, or the door is more than 12-15 years old and fighting Westgate humidity, replacement starts to make more sense. We’ll give you the straight answer with numbers for both paths. Estimates are free – call (561) 468-6136.
We pull any permit the job requires and we don’t start until it’s in hand. We also schedule the inspection and stay through it. That’s part of doing the job right, not an add-on fee.
